The Tidal Basin in Washington DC opened in 1918 and they used to let people swim in it. There's your fun fact for the day!

Most people are familiar with the Tidal Basin. One of my favorite memorials, the Jefferson, borders it. However, not many people know that you can obtain a permit to have your wedding on the Jefferson Memorial lawn.

Permits

Wedding ceremonies up to 200 people are allowed on the west lawn of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial along the Tidal Basin near East Basin Drive for up to two hours. I recommend evening weddings because otherwise there's harsh overhead sun shining down on an area which doesn't have much shade.

A permit is necessary to hold your wedding here. You can see the regulations at the National Park Service Permit website.

This unique venue will definitely be a venue for guests to remember.
