The National Arboretum in Washington DC is one of my favorite places. It’s hard to believe such a large park exists within the city. It has a variety of gardens (including an entire bonsai section) and columns which were a part of the United States Capitol from 1828 to 1958. It definitely makes for a beautiful spot for a proposal, or just to hang out with your dog (because of course you have a dog).

There is one downside to the arboretum: they’re super strict about photography permits. I’ve gotten away without one once or twice, but you can never be sure, which is why I recommend getting one. Click below to get more info on that.
