Washington DC's Theodore Roosevelt Island used to be known as "Mason's Island" until the 1930s when it was converted from overgrown farmland into a memorial to the 26th President of America. It was "designed to mimic the natural forest that once covered the island." And today, there are miles of trails on the island honoring the legacy of the outdoorsman and conservationist Theodore Roosevelt.

This is one of the lesser known parks in DC which makes it great for proposals (since there are rarely any people around). The tree canopy makes for great light during sunset!

You can see some of my other favorite proposal spots here.
